OUR HISTORY


Based upon a centuries old family tradition in the field of metal working, FGS was founded in 1952 for the specialized production of heat resistant castings.  















Modern production and control facilities allow FGS to supply castings and components for high-temperature service. Produced in a wide range of standard and proprietary Iron, Nickel and Cobalt based alloys, these castings and components are supplied fully machined, assembled, tested and ready for installation.

The performance and service life of heat resistant castings depends primarily on the right selection of a suitable alloy, on its metallurgical quality and on the proper design of the cast pieces. FGS's extensive experience makes it possible to study and propose innovative solutions to many design or maintenance problems. FGS has developed a number of special steels and super-alloys of exclusive production like the proprietary HW20-13S® steel and the LOYMAX® series.

Our castings and furnace parts are exported to more than 40 countries around the world.

FGS is a member of ASSOFOND and of the Steel Founders’ Society of America.

OUR FACILITIES


Decades long experience producing high-temperature castings allows FGS to formulate the correct technical analysis of the component during the preliminary production stage, in order to optimize both product and production process.

FOUNDRY

Melting departments  equipped with the most modern electric induction furnaces, ranging from 220 to 4400 lbs (100 to 2000 kg) capacity. 

Centrifugal castings with 5 horizontal machines.

Static castings by shell moulding, no-bake, green sand and investment casting processes.

MACHINE AND WELDING SHOP

Specialized finishing departments allow for the supply of fully machined products. Complete welding facilities and experienced operators enable FGS to assemble castings and wrought parts, to produce fully fabricated furnace components, and to offer an efficient and economical repair service for worn fabricated or cast furnace parts.

R&D LABORATORIES

The laboratory facilities are among the most modern for a high-alloy steel foundry, providing analysis from raw materials to finished products, and focusing on the development of the FGS registered LOYMAX alloy series. The laboratories also performs research on corrosion/failure analysis, allowing FGS to study improvements to the design or metallurgy of heat resistant cast parts.
